2022 - PANDA WHITE (STEVESTON)

Our Steveston Panda White primary bathroom was a study in creative problem-solving. Set within a waterfront condominium, the existing concrete slab construction meant plumbing, venting and electrical locations were largely fixed. Under ordinary circumstances, these limitations might have been manageable. But with a wish list that included a brighter bathroom, a larger shower, an expanded vanity and a bidet, the existing footprint required us to flex our creative muscles.

The first move was deceptively simple. We removed the unnecessary swing door between the walk-in closet and bathroom, allowing natural light from the bedroom windows to travel deeper into the space while eliminating a door conflict within the narrow floor plan. It was a small architectural intervention with a significant impact, improving both the circulation and the quality of light.

At the heart of the material palette is Panda White marble, where fluid swirls of bold black veining move dramatically across a crisp white background. Classic in composition yet unapologetically expressive, the large-format porcelain slabs by Versace were imported from Italy and required a four-month wait to arrive. The delay was a reminder of something we often share with our clients: distinctive materials and exceptional craftsmanship require patience. Like Rome, beautiful spaces are rarely built in a day.
