The jumping-off point for our Mystic Azure project was a boldly patterned blue tile, an expressive moment of colour that established the palette for the entire kitchen. Its deep navy tones are echoed in the custom millwork of the island and bar, while whispers of pale grey-blue reappear in the refined, bevelled-glass subway tile backsplash and the softly layered fabrics of the banquette. Anchoring the composition is a fresh, bright white, used generously across the main millwork to bring clarity and balance to this high-energy renovation.
But beauty was only one part of the equation.
We have always believed the best kitchens should have beauty on the outside and brains on the inside. While the finishes may be what first catches the eye, it is often the smallest, most thoughtful details that quietly transform the experience of living in a space.
Behind the polished exterior, carefully considered pull-outs organize spices, sauces, oils, vinaigrettes and cooking utensils exactly where they are needed. These details may not command attention, but they are the kind of small, mighty solutions that make the rituals of everyday life feel more intuitive.
Because while a beautiful exterior may be what first seduces us, it is thoughtful design that keeps us in love.
