I have used Huong and the Spotted Frog Design team on 3 separate projects. Most recently is our 100 year old character home renovation. The other two renovations consisted of a 70’s home and a early 2000’s craftman style house. For each project Huong worked with us to understand what our goal is for the renovation. She gets a sense of what style and look we were aiming to achieve. She also worked with us to understand the objective and function for each room. With style and function in mind, Huong presented different design options utilizing materials suited for our budget. Huong is our go to person for anything interior design related. My husband and I are thrilled to share our experience working with Huong Nguyen, Founder & Creative Director of The Spotted Frog Furniture Company. After years of dreaming, and walking through Huong’s beautiful boutique furniture store in the quaint Steveston Village in Richmond, BC, we finally decided to buy some new furniture pieces for our home that we had aspired to purchase for years. The problem with bringing new and beautiful furniture into an unrenovated space is that you suddenly feel like you have to renovate; and so began our journey which GREW by the day and month!!

It was an absolute pleasure to work with Huong. Her goal is not only to create your dream spaces that are stunning, but also ones that fit your family’s lifestyle. She does not believe in suggesting products, styles, materials or designs that are purely for design sake; they must serve a purpose and represent your family’s unique taste. She was very quick to redirect us if she thought that what we wanted would not hold up to our expectations over time because it was not a durable or practical option for a family with three older teenagers. We valued and appreciated her candid and professional opinions.

Furthermore, Huong was always just a quick phone call, email or drive away. She was never too busy to answer a question, or to go over something again, if and when we were rethinking or overthinking a choice. She met our contractors on-sight at times, and if she wasn’t able to, she was available by phone to speak with the contractors in a crunch situation.

Huong made us feel like she really cared about our project and that she wasn’t just trying to sell us products and services for her benefit. She was personable, reliable, confident in her suggestions, and detail-oriented. Huong was a great listener who heard what we loved and wanted, and really executed a plan that paired with our dream wish-list.

This is the second time using The Spotted Frog for their design services, as well as furniture and art purchases. I was dying to refresh two rooms in my house (Flex/playroom and Family room). Downsizing from a house to a condo can be stressful, but I had nothing to worry about once I hired the design services at The Spotted Frog. Upon downsizing from a 2700 sq.ft. home to a new build 1200 sq.ft. condominium, we were seeking help in designing this space. We found the task somewhat overwhelming therefore a designer was important to us. My wife and I decided to renovate our entire home in January of 2019. We have always desired to have a French vintage/accent home. We, therefore, decided to engage an interior designer to carry out this adventure.

After we shortlisted a few interior designers in our local cities, we engaged Ms. Huong, the principal of Spotted Frog, to lead us through the adventure.

Throughout the design and construction process, we found Ms. Huong was full of ideas and visions in keeping with our theme. She provided us with an abundance of design elements and ideas throughout the various spaces of our home. She has been patient, friendly, and easy to work with. She was proactive with suggestions but yet willing to listen to our imagination. We are particularly impressed with the general layout of elements and spaces, the color scheme of each room, and the gorgeous tile patterns throughout our home. As a side note, our project manager and a number of sub-trades of our construction team were also impressed with the overall interior design of our home.

We finally moved back into this gorgeous home in December of 2019. We are very satisfied with this French vintage/accent gem that we are living in now.

Huong completely transformed the look, feel and use of our living space for our family. Since our space was on the smaller side, we did not think there were many options to reconfigure our layout.
